Ben served in the Army, Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. He served in a security detail during the Gulf War. After the Army Ben attended the College of Oceaneering to study Dive Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine. In addition, he studied Paramedic Medicine at Kern County Paramedic School. He worked for American Medical Response (AMR). Ben went into teaching and taught at Allan Hancock College in the EMS and HazMat programs.
Ben later moved to Connecticut to attend school at the University of Connecticut where he studied Occupational Health and Safety. Ben later went to work as the lead Hyperbaric Technician and Safety Director for the Hyperbaric unit at Milford Hospital.
Now retired, Ben moved back to the central coast where he was born and raised. He now spends his free time volunteering for local veteran organizations, such as: Veterans Treatment Court and the Band of Brothers.
