Mrs. Cabanas faced many of the challenges soldiers face while transitioning to civilian life. Her personal and professional life experience have resulted in several years of positions working with unhoused veterans and those suffering with mental and substance abuse issues. In 2019, she decided to continue her education at Allan Hancock College and utilize her education benefits. In 2022, she earned two Associate of Science degrees in Office Management and Computer Technology, and a year later graduated with an Associates of Science in Paralegal Studies. While a student, she earned experience in the education field by working as a clerk in the Academic Resource Center, before landing a work study/intern position at the Veteran Success Center.
Mrs. Cabanas lives in Santa Maria with her husband and three boys. She is employed by Allan Hancock as a Program Specialist, specializing in certification for military education benefits.
